Experience Elevated Dining at The Dining Room at Sugar Bowl

If you haven’t yet experienced Chef Jason Landas’ new spring menu in The Dining Room at Sugar Bowl’s Village Lodge, now is the time! The buzz is real—locals and visitors alike have been raving about the inspired flavors, artful presentation, and cozy alpine atmosphere that make this dining experience truly special. Whether you’re arriving via a historic gondola ride or stepping in straight from the slopes, you’re in for a treat.

Chef Jason’s Philosophy
Chef Jason brings his personal cooking philosophy into designing his spring menu, explaining: “I’m all about hyper-seasonal cooking—whatever’s freshest and most flavorful at that time of year. At home, I cook with whatever I can find at the farmers market.”

Spring Menu Highlights
Chef Jason’s menu celebrates fresh, seasonal ingredients with dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Here are a few standout recommendations from his spring menu:
- Scallops – Buttery, delicate, and perfectly seared, these scallops are pure indulgence.
- Carrot Soup – A beautifully presented dish, where velvety soup is poured tableside over crème fraîche, highlighting the sweet, earthy flavors of heirloom carrots.
- Hamachi Crudo – A vibrant dish featuring fresh hamachi topped with a striking lace squid ink cracker—both fun to eat and an absolute delight for the senses {pictured above}.
- New Zealand Salmon – Seared to perfection, this rich salmon rests on a velvety green garlic purée, complemented by asparagus spears, Tokyo turnips, trumpet mushrooms, and shaved breakfast radish. A Meyer lemon vinaigrette adds brightness and acidity, while mint tips and frisée provide the perfect finishing touch.
- Superior Farms Lamb Chop – This grass-fed rack of lamb from Dixon, CA, is served atop creamy farotto, with tender English peas and a refreshing mint yogurt for a beautifully balanced bite.
Pair your meal with a selection from our extensive wine list, hand-curated by our sommelier, Clay Reynolds to complement each dish perfectly.
